Comic 0002.
Here’s a new poster for Sexbeard the Death Pirate…or rather a remixed old poster.
Sexbeard the Death Pirate advertises himself whilst enjoying a fine summer ale and smoking fine English tobacco from a human skull.
I originally penciled, inked and colored this picture of Sexbeard in 2007. It had little more than a white background and it was used as the back cover for the first issue of the comic. I grew tired of this picture’s boring background and decided to try and make it a cool poster.
More news about STDP soon.
I’m doing a panel on open source art software at MomoCon 2010. In particular, this is going to be a demonstration on drawing with GIMP. Check out http://testtubelabs.net/testtube/?page_id=172 for more info!
I….think I’m done with this one. Watch me change my mind later.
A subject matter inspired by The Restaurant at the End of the Universe, Akira and Nine Inch Nails live shows. Don’t ask.
Inked line art, Photoshop colors. This took several hours across several days. Final PSD file’s size = 121.90 mb
EDIT: I got the Harley Quinn pic up! Scroll down to see.
I went to Atlanta Comic Convention today. I’d say it was a successful show. Thanks to everybody that stopped by my table. Enjoy your crummy danger stickers!
I did some zombie art while I was at the show.
I also was commissioned for a drawing of Harley Quinn.
And thanks to the MomoCon people for being great neighbors.
We’re starting something new.
How often do you hear that phrase nowadays? A lot? I thought so. When you hear that, it’s usually from a multi-million dollar corporation, and it usually means one of these three things:
Well, that’s not what’s happening here. This isn’t a multi-million dollar corporation. And what’s happening here isn’t even really that new. It’s just a web comic. That sort of shit has been around since the 90’s, man, ya know, back when the internet was fresh and shit, yeah. So it’s just new to Test Tube.
What it really is, is a lower startup cost.
The way I make Sexbeard the Death Pirate will be changing. From now on, Sexbeard is a web comic. Please share it with your friends, or don’t share it with your friends, or share it with your worst enemies. The printed version is not toast though!
Sexbeard will be updated every Friday for the time being. It will still be divided into issues like a printed comic. Whenever I finish an issue, I will do a print run for people who enjoy printed comics. Instead of the usual cheap crap, I’m going to add some extra stuff to these: a couple of full color pages, posters, etc. I’ll give some more details on that when more of it comes in to focus.
For now, enjoy.
