Come learn cool art techniques on the computer! This demonstration will cover the basics of illustrating using GIMP, a free computer program for art and photo editing. Feel free to just sit and watch, but you are also encouraged to bring your laptop with you so that you can follow along with the demonstration. We’ll also be giving away CDs full of free, open source software at the panel (first come, first serve).
GIMP for Windows
- Go to http://www.gimp.org/downloads/.
- Download the GIMP 2.6.8 installer for Windows.
- Run the installer. It’s pretty self explanatory installer.
- You will need the GTK+ runtime environment to run GIMP. Don’t worry- if you don’t have GTK+ already, GIMP will install it for you.
- Start it up and give it a go…
